AY-UP
a funny english word
So you’re curious about the term, “Ay-up.” Well it’s a colloquialism that me and my family used in the north of England, that’s where I’m from, the North, a bit like the Starks but less depressing.
Ay-up can mean a bunch of things, ranging from, “Hello,” to things like, “watch out, that might hit you.”
It is believed that Ay-up came from an Old Norse origin (se upp) which generally means, “look out”.
You’ll notice that you won’t find this page in the navigation, that’s because you’re like me, you like to explore, some may say like the Old Norse vikings.
